Yale Day of Service 2010

Spanning 5 decades of Yale involvement (including one of our three incoming freshman from Las Vegas!), over a dozen members of the Yale Club of Nevada met at Three Square on May 15, 2010, to take part in the second annual worldwide Yale Day of Service. Everyone was impressed with the magnificent new $10 million facility. Three Square not only helps feed the hungry in the Las Vegas Valley, it also receives, sorts and distributes returned goods from one of six national Walmart distribution centers to help families in need. Our volunteers learned about the valuable work of Three Square. We then went to work sorting and bundling everything from housewares, diapers, toys and sporting goods to personal care products, all to be shared with families in need. After almost three hours of hard work and good cheer, we posed for the attached group photo. The day fostered a wonderful feeling of helping others, learning about a valuable service in the resource in the community, and meting new friends. We can hardly wait til next year!
